Disk Imager Package for MaaS360 Mobile or Control Service (E360 below refers to either)

Fiberlink has a tool that needs to be ran on the “Source Computer” after E360 is installed before capturing the image to be deployed. After installing E360 on the source computer, make sure that you do not have an Internet connection as this tool needs to be ran before any connection is made with E360. This tool will encrypt the E360 Policy Database using a generic passcode which can be opened on any machine, thus allowing E360 to be deployed on an image.

After installing E360, making sure not to have an Internet connection or connecting with E360, copy the DiskImager Package install to the Source Computer and run the application to install.

1) Extract All Files in DiskImager Package.zip

2) Double Click on the DiskImager Application

3) Click on Create Image

4) Once all Status’ are green checks, select close.

After you have ran the tool successfully, E360 is now in a state where it can be imaged and that image can be deployed to many machines. At this point you would capture the image on the source machine with an imaging tool such as ImageX or Ghost. Once captured, deploy the image on one machine to test. Once the image is installed, make sure you are able to successfully connect to E360 on both the source machine and the deployed image machine. Once you verify that the image is then good to deploy.

This tool will perform the following steps when run:

(1) Stops Fiberlink services: ServiceMgr, FLUtilsSvc

(2) Stops BES Client Service.

(3) Stops EMSAgent (if installed)

(4) Recrypts E360 Policy Database using a generic key

(5) Recrypts E360 System Database using a generic key

(6) Recrypts V360 Database using a generic key (if installed)

(7) Deletes EEA specific registry keys and files that are set post registration.

If you need to check if the tool itself was effective, you can run the following steps:

1

Stop Service Manager

You’re trying to Launch Juniper’s Network Connect client, and you get a nc.windows.app.23711 error. Network Connect launches and just will not stay connected. Some third party applications can interfere with Network Connect. Bonjour (a zero-configuration networking application) uses mDNSResponder (a Bonjour system service) that modifies the route table and will trigger the nc.windows.app.23711 Network Connect error.

There are many other programs that will modify the route table Bonjour is just the most popular. Below is a list of applications known to cause this problem. Many of them are here because they contain the Bonjour service:

ITunes
IChat
IPhoto
Fire
Skype
Gizmo Project Software
Adobe Creative CS3
CS3
Proteus
Adium
TiVo
SubEthaEdit
Contactizer
Safari
Asterisk
Bonjour Browser
Bonjour with ITunes – go to Manage Computer and disable
Adobe InDesign
IPass authentication
Limewire
Cisco client 4.5
Other VPN clients should be removed at least for testing purposes.
Hummingbird in the past, but not recently

To fix this problem, you can find and remove the application that’s causing the problem. Upgrading to Bonjour 1.06 or higher will help. You can also use “allow access to local subnet” option or one of the enable “split tunneling” options for Network Connect .

The Cisco 412 Error is a very common error with the Cisco VPN client. This typically mean that you don’t have an internet connection. Some things to try, in troubleshooting this error, would be to:

See if you can browse the Internet. If not, check your proxy settings and clear them if there’s a proxy being used.

If you’re at a hotel, the hotel could be blocking the ports required for Cisco VPN client to communicate with the concentrator. You can talk to the hotel management to have this looked at.

If you’re using a wireless connection, try plugging directly in to your network connection with an Ethernet cable or try some other transport, like an aircard.

Try turning off your personal firewall. It could be malfunctioning and not allow the desired traffic through.

Edit the Cisco VPN profile with an editor and change ForceKeepAlive=0 to ForceKeepAlive =1

Turn on NAT-T/TCP in your profile (remember to unblock port 10000 in your firewall or turn the firewall off temporarily)

Check with your technical support that the concentrator you’re trying to reach is in operation, or try another concentrator (if applicable).

To perform an installation of the BlackBerry Device Software using BlackBerry Desktop Manager version 4.5 to 5.0, perform the following steps:

Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

Click Help (see screenshot below).

Device Error Code: 310-314: Hardware Failure

Cause: Hardware Failure

Perform a hard reset on the BlackBerry smartphone.

A reset of a BlackBerry smartphone is a troubleshooting method that will completely power off and restart the BlackBerry smartphone’s operating system software and applications. It is a useful first step if a BlackBerry smartphone is experiencing hardware, software, or wireless network problems.

Note: A reset of a BlackBerry smartphone does not delete any settings or data.

There are two options for performing a reset: a hard reset and a soft reset.

A hard reset involves physically removing the battery from the smartphone and then reinserting it. To perform a hard reset, complete the following steps:

1) Remove the battery cover from the back of the BlackBerry smartphone.
2) Remove the battery, and then reinsert it after a few seconds.
3) Replace the battery cover.

A soft reset is a three key combination that resets the BlackBerry smartphone without removing the battery. It is only available on BlackBerry smartphone models with a QWERTY keyboard. SureType® technology and touch screen BlackBerry smartphones, such as the BlackBerry® Pearl™ smartphone, BlackBerry® Pearl™ Flip smartphone, and BlackBerry® Storm™ smartphone cannot be reset in this manner.

To perform a soft reset, complete the following steps:

1) Press and hold down the ALT key on the smartphone.
2) While holding down the ALT key, press and hold down the right-hand CAP key.
3) With both of those buttons still pressed, press the DELETE key. The display on the BlackBerry smartphone will turn off to indicate that the reset has started, and the keys can now be released.

Note: Some BlackBerry smartphones do not display the ALT, CAP, and DELETE keys in the same manner. However, the location of the keys does not change. Please refer to the following graphic for key position:

Additional Information

It is normal behavior for a BlackBerry smartphone to take several minutes to completely start up following a reset.

Some wireless service providers and third-party device manufacturers have processes called master reset, factory reset, or master clear, which erases all user data and settings for non-BlackBerry carrier devices, restoring them to a “factory” state. The wipe handheld command will perform this same function on a BlackBerry smartphone.

To reset a legacy BlackBerry device (Research In Motion® (RIM®) 850, 857, 950, 957 devices), insert the end of a paper clip into the small hole on the back of the device.

There is much speculation (see here, here, and here) about what the arrival of the iPad will mean to the enterprise computing environment. Of course, much of this is opinion and much of it is conflicting. Rather than add my voice to this chorus, I thought I would pass along what real enterprises are discussing, planning and doing today.

Within the past week we received the first set of inquiries about the iPad from our customers. Since the iPad is not yet shipping, these customers are taking advantage of the remaining time to determine the existing infrastructure, frameworks, and services that can be offered or supported; and to develop a coherent set of policies for use of the iPad in their corporate environment. Their goal is to anticipate the iPad’s arrival (whether it is through the front door or the back door), and have a clear set of guidelines and processes in place when it does.

The initial areas of concern and focus are: email, web browsing, wireless access, VPN access, data protection; and of course, help desk. Customers with SSL VPN solutions deployed are particularly interested in extending this service to their iPad users. There are a few things these customers have in common: they already have a significant community of Mac users in their corporate environment, and in my estimation these customers are on the more advanced end of the spectrum of IT organizations that we work with (another way of saying early adopters).

They believe the initial demand for iPad support will come from existing Mac users who are also ultra-road warriors, followed by existing Mac users that are mainly email/web-centric (and view the iPad as a less costly replacement), followed finally by users that bought the iPad for personal use and want to use it in the corporate environment.

If your company is preparing for the iPad’s arrival in your enterprise it would be great to hear from you.
