Analyze your power efficiency in Windows 7
Do you ever wonder if your computer is hogging more power than it needs to?
Windows 7 has a built in tool to determine this.
Open the command prompt, as an administrator, then type powercfg -energy. It will run for about 60 seconds and then tell you the location of the results. Navigate to the file to see the report. Here you will be able to see if there are any issues with your power settings and where all your batter life is going. There are three categories. Errors, Warnings and Informational.
Powercfg exists in Windows XP SP2 and up and allows you to manipulate the power settings through a command prompt, but with the introduction to Windows 7 and the -energy switch, you get a nice report.
